DAVE G'S CARLA CAMETTI PD SEASON 1 REVIEW:

'Carla Cametti PD' is a gem of a serious that in a lot of ways outshines 'Underbelly' as it explores the murky secrets of a Italian family while their daughter, Carla tries to work as a Private Detective while her family despise her choice of career.

Diana Glenn is the perfect choice for Carla and it is great to see her finally in the lead role in a serious. And despite a below par performance in the pilot, Vince Colosimo once again shows why he is on the list of Australia's best actors. There are some other amazing standouts found amongst the acting stock with Robert Mammone once again making his presence felt as he pulls off another gangster role, perfectly, while newcomer Nicola Da Silva is a bright spark who frequently outshines her much more experienced co-stars.

The mix of drama and comedy work remarkably well in 'Carla Cametti PD' and shows that maybe this is a genre that Australia should look at doing more of. The brilliant storyline flows nicely from episode to episode and some great cliffhangers mean you'll be wanting to watch all the episodes back-to-back. Even the series-finale will make you want to count down the days to the new season airs. The other stroke of genius from the creators is the fact that the sub-story of Lisa's pending marriage and infidelity also attracts viewer attention without overshadowing the main story at hand.

A great series that is a must see for all fans of the Australian crime drama genre.

A good pilot that se
ts up an interesting little drama. As the cast would suggest the acting is top notch, Glenn and Colosimo are brilliant and the story keeps you interested. The ending is terrific, promising there is much to come as the season goes on. It's enough to make you watch next week.

Summary
Some missing money at the local soccer club is a crime easily solved by Carla, not so easy is working out who wants her dead or making Gandolfi believe that she knows nothing when her shooter ends up catching a bullet himself.

Dave's Review:
The writers of this ep need to be congratulated for their skill in tying in the minor one-ep story into the longer running story arc. The suspense is raised with Carla's murderer being found and then killed himself... This show knows how to make sure that people watch the week after.

Summary

When a society princess hires Carla to find her stolen jewels it seems like a nice, simple job, but life is getting more complicated - Carla's mother invites Gandolfi for family dinner and her ex, Matt invites himself to her place for dessert...

Dave's Review:
While the start of the ep deals with who fired at Carla and who arranged the funeral for her it seems to be forgotten about as the episode went on... and shame as this lost a lot of the suspense. The only story arc moved along was the relationship between Carla and Gandolfi as they seem to get closer only for Matt to step in the way.
