THE EYE OF THE STORM

SYNOPSIS: Veteran Australian Director Fred Schepisi brings Patrick White’s Noble Prize winning novel to the big screen, recruiting an all-star cast featuring. In a Sydney suburb, two nurses, a housekeeper and a solicitor attend to Elizabeth Hunter as her expatriate son Sir Basil and daughter Dorothy convene at her deathbed. Estranged from a mother who was never capable of loving them, Sir Basil - a famous but struggling actor in London - and Dorothy - an impecunious French princess - attempt to reconcile with one common goal: to leave Australia with their vast inheritance. SYNOPSIS: From Australia’s most acclaimed playwright, David Williamson, and director Michael Rymer (Angel Baby) comes an all-star film about lies, betrayal and sex in the workplace. Recently sacked construction worker Wayne (Luke Ford) rams his ute into the back of the Jaguar owned by his ex-boss Greg (Vince Colosimo) in a fit of rage. Rather than fronting court, Wayne is given the chance to explain his actions in a community conference. The face-to-face confrontation that evolves between the disillusioned young man, Greg and his supportive wife Claire (Sigrid Thornton), their co-workers and Wayne’s mother lifts the lid not only on the dysfunctional behavior of the individuals involved but also their less-than-professional workplace.
